 The YMCA offers a variety of classes and activities for youth and teens.

Jujitsu
Jujitsu literally means the “gentle art”. Our program emphasizes the ability of a weaker, smaller person to overcome a much stronger, larger opponent. Specifically geared for active kids and women, Jujitsu teaches how to use the attacker’s force against oneself.  The Longmont YMCA Jujitsu class represents the Y’s oldest martial arts program. Classes are taught by Hanshi Miles McGaughey, 6th degree Black Belt with over 35 years experience in the martial arts.
Age: 7 years to adult
MW: 7-8pm/Beg.  7-9pm/Adv.
Fee: $70/beg. $95/adv.

Karate

Our Japanese Shotokan Karate instruction provides increased physical fitness, coordination, confidence, discipline, concentration and knowledge of self-defense skills. Advancement through all belt levels is available.

Introduction to Martial Arts
Here’s an afterschool class that let’s youth explore a variety of martial arts. Youth will learn patience and responsibility, basic moves and the long history of martial arts. Taught by Hanshi Miles McGaughey, 6th degree black belt with

Homeschool Physical Education Class
The YMCA now offers a land and water P.E. class designed for homeschool families. Come and join your friends for fun, exercise and to fulfill your P.E. credit hours.
Ages: 6 – 13 years 
MW: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Beginning Ballet
This class is offered to beginning dancers, both boys and girls. We will learn the principles of ballet, correct terminology and the accurate placement of the body. Ballet slippers required. Visitors will be allowed to observe the last class only.
Age: 5 – 8 years

Creative Dance 
Learn to hop, skip and gallop as we improvise through an imaginative environment. Ballet, jazz and modern dance fundamentals will be explored in a fun and stimulating format using assorted "props". No special attire or shoes required.
Age: 5 – 8 years

Pre-Season Strength and Conditioning Program
This new and exciting program will incorporate speed, plyometrics, agility, strength, conditioning, flexibility and balance training while focusing on proper technique and injury prevention.
Who: Any athlete entering grades 7-12
When: Mon-Thurs 2:00-4:00pm
Session I – June 1-25
Session II – June 29- July 30
Where: At the Longmont YMCA
