Our History
The Ed & Ruth Lehman YMCA is part of a national association of nearly 2600 YMCAs. Our organization first began programming in 1969 as part of the Boulder Valley YMCA, and was incorporated as a private, non-profit corporation in 1989 to address local needs in Longmont. Youth development, preschool and childcare, youth sports and health and wellness have been our core program activities since the beginning.
Our Mission
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Our Vision
We provide life-enhancing programs for children, families and seniors that focus on developing relationships, healthy lives and respect for diversity in order to build a stronger community.
Our Commitment
The YMCA is a grassroots organization organized by volunteers to serve local needs. We bring together men, women, teens and children of all ages, races, faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. We are a place to belong, a place to live the values that guide and unite our members: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We build strong communities through programs in health, youth development, childcare and family enrichment.
The Longmont YMCA will celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2009.
